Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Golf Cart Covers

Which Kind of Golf Cart Covers Do I Need?

We have seen it over and over again.  One day, one of our buddies will show up with a brand new golf cart on the golf course.  He will usually have this look of excitement.  Oftentimes, our buddy even begins telling us about the golf cart accessories he is going to get, such as lighting or a built in cooler (for some reason, golf cart covers are never mentioned).

Then, of course, we ask him how he plans to protect his new investment.  Usually, at this point, we get the blank stare.  Since we have undergone this ritual on numerous occasions, we are now used to explaining the virtues of golf cart covers.

First, we believe it is extremely foolish to buy a golf cart and not protect it.  We assume a person would not use a golf cart cover for one of two reasons.  First, they simply do not know they exist.  Or second, they think they can use golf cart seat covers and gain the same advantages.

Let’s first address the second point.  While a golf cart seat cover will keep the seats protected, they will do absolutely nothing for the rest of the golf cart.  Therefore, it really is your best interest in buying a golf cart cover versus just using golf cart seat covers.

As for the first point, many people simply do not realize that golf cart rain covers or golf cart storage covers exist.  Well, now that you know they exist, let’s discuss which type of cover is right for your situation.

First, the type of cover you will need will depend on whether your golf cart has a windshield or not.  If you golf cart has a permanent windshield, you will need a 3 – sided cover to protect your vehicle.  If your cart doesn’t have a windshield, you will need to use a 4 – sided cover to protect the golf cart from the elements.

Once you have decided whether you need a 3 or 4 sided golf cart cover, the next question that you will need to answer is what you will use the golf cart cover for.  There are two primary choices.  Are you buying a cover just for storage or do you plan on driving your golf cart with the cover on during rainstorms?

If you plan on using your cover just to keep the rain off the golf cart, a golf cart rain cover would be the best option for you.  These covers are a little heavier than traditional golf cart covers because they are meant to protect your golf cart from the pouring rain.

If you just plan on using the cover for storage, a golf cart storage cover is your best option.  These covers are lighter than the golf cart rain covers and are used primarily to keep debris and wildlife out of your golf cart when you are not using it.

When considering the purchase of your golf cart cover, we recommend you seriously consider the value of your golf cart versus the price of a cover.  When you really think about it, it really is a no brainer.  Very simply, it would be a waste of an investment to not take the proper steps to ensure your vehicle is correctly protected.

Just remember, you don’t want to be the guy with the faded golf cart on the course.  Especially, when you could have prevented it by using a golf cart cover.
